Hy's Steak House is renowned for their quality steak and luxurious dining area. Perfect for upscale corporate dinners, Hy's offers a wide variety of entrees and a fairly substantial wine list.

Our most recent visit to Hy's in Toronto has left us feeling a little light in the pocket and a little disappointed in the belly. While the atmosphere is certainly worthy of the fine dining title, the food itself was a bit of a disappointment. The filet was a little on the dry side and slightly overcooked, while the rack of lamb was underwhelming, in what should have been a delightful herb crusting.

The atmosphere always lives up to its billing, with 30' coffered ceilings and a surprisingly quaint open concept layout, you really can't go wrong. In winter time the massive fireplace situated in the dining room adds real warmth to your dining experience, and if you are looking for a romantic setting the few tables beside this fireplace are perfect.

Although you can't judge a restaurant on a limited number of visits, being that our meal was in the $200 range for two people, chances are we won't be heading back for further review anytime soon. I think our hard earned cash may be better served elsewhere, perhaps not for the atmosphere, but for the food, there is no question.
