Little Tibet Restaurant
712 Queen Street West
Toronto, ON
M6J 1E8
This family run establishment is nestled in the trendy Queen West shopping district between Bathurst and Dufferin. Having been located in Yorkville for so many years, this new location boasts a slightly larger dining room, while maintaining the unique identity it had while in the upscale Yorkville neighbourhood.
The menu is split between a variety of authentic Tibetan vegetarian and meat dishes; the curried lamb has to be one of the best lamb based dishes in the city, hands down. While the vegetarian dishes are also a delight, the real catch on the menu is the variety of Momo(s), or steamed buns as we like to call them. There's nothing quite like a beef momo, or my personal favorite the T-Momo, which is just the plain steamed variety. These are great for sopping up the left over savory sauces which adorn all the various dishes.
All in all, this cozy little gem serves up authentic fare, with massive portions, at great prices. The sheer variety of the menu allows you to revisit time and time again without ever getting bored. If there were to be a down point, it would only have to be the lack of prompt service during peak hours; while they get your order and your meal out pretty quickly, trying to get the bill presents a bit of a challenge on occasion.
Overall: Savory & authentic fare, great variety.
