Toronto Restaurant Review

So it started out as a regular Saturday night, Hockey Night In Canada and a few pops. After a disappointing loss to our rivals in the nation's capital, the crew decided to run out and grab something to eat to lift our spirits. We decided to try a new restaurant a few blocks north of us; Purple Rain.

We started out with a bunch of appetizers which included the worst wonton soup we've ever had in the city of Toronto. The broth tasted like water that's had some sweaty gym shorts sitting in it for a few days so as to give it a salty flavour. Other than that there was little to no taste at all. The wontons themselves were so dried and shriveled they were virtually indistinguishable. We went directly to the spring rolls which, dripping with grease, were packed with what we can only describe as Simpson-esque mystery meat.

Hoping to see some improvement in the main courses, we waited patiently for them to arrive, only be to be further disappointed. The pad thai looked like it had come out of a can, and tasted even worse. The Kung Po chicken, a favorite of ours, was passable, but far from good. The satay beef and curried chicken were of a quality reminiscent of something that you would expect to find in a truck stop somewhere along the 401 between Simcoe and Amherstburg Ontario.

Overall: Um......just not good.
